September 2019 Chapter Meeting/Luncheon @ Alaska Communications Business Technology Center
Sep 12 @ 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Welcome all to the first chapter meeting of the 2019 Fall.

This first chapter meeting of the season will focus on introducing the new chapter Board, the vision and focus for the upcoming chapter meetings, and introducing new key local leadership (so, for our member organizations, please encourage your leadership to attend).  There will be a presentation on the critical need for (and value of) networking and outreach by AFCEA in Alaska by our keynote speaker(s) – this outreach is crucial to developing and maintaining technical aptitude and industry opportunity.  Please join us to add your insights, your organizational needs and outreach efforts, and define/learn how we use AFCEA resources to address the core issues. [Spoiler: this will include meetings providing continuing education credits, AFCEA educational grants, supporting the chapter in ways that develop skills/experience, and more.]

Parking at this venue is plentiful. Please feel free to bring your own lunch for this open meeting; there are nearby options, to include a Pita Pit next door; McDonald’s, Johnny’s, and Turnagain Arm Pit BBQ, also very near.

December Chapter Meeting @ Moose Run Golfcourse Lodge
Dec 19 @ 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

AFCEA Alaska Chapter – it’s hard to believe we are in December already.  Please join us at this new venue, providing a perfect winter retreat to connect with each other at year’s end.  We have coordinated with the senior military communicators in Alaska for a ‘meet and greet’, and discussion of their key efforts. We will also cover the TechNet conference, determining members of the planning committee.

Lunch is provided for members; $10 for non-members (cash or checks only, please).

Looking forward to seeing folks there!

January luncheon – Doing Business with DISA @ Arctic Warrior Event Center (AWEC) on JBER
Jan 16 @ 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Are you on the Government/Military side and have requirements?  Are you a business wanting to know how to learn/meet the DoD requirements – or at least want to know how to inform the DoD of what you can provide?  The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) contracting arm is DITCO.  The DITCO-PACIFIC (Alaska) Contracting Officer, Ms. Karen Braquet, will provide an overview of doing business with DISA/DITCO.  Please pass this information along to folks you think will find this interesting/useful.

You are welcome to bring your own lunch to this event.
