Welcome to AFCEA Alaska’s Science, Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Page

This program is a combined effort between the AFCEA Alaska Chapter and the AFCEA Educational Foundation and is made possible through the generous donations of corporate sponsors. The purpose is to promote effective STEM teaching and to enhance the abilities of capable STEM teachers in K-12 schools in Alaska. The grant is intended to provide $1,000 for an elementary, middle, or high school STEM teacher for the purpose of augmenting STEM activities for their students.

2018 President’s STEM Letter

  1. The AFCEA Alaska board will select deserving elementary, middle and/or high school STEM teachers from within Alaska. This will include $1,000 grants to the Anchorage School District, the Mat-Su Borough District, private or charter schools, and small schools in rural communities.  Teachers working in schools which are poorly supported and/or with economically disadvantaged students will receive favorable consideration.
  2. Selection will be based on the teacher’s potential to use the funds well and financial need. The method of selection will be at the discretion of the chapter board. This award is not renewable to the same teacher or school for the following fiscal year.
